Jessie was the wife of Robert Lee Powell and Johnny Patterson. Jessie lived her life by faith and exemplified a strong trust in the Lord. She was an active member of Smith United Methodist Church for over 80 years. She attended Sunday School and worship services until just a few short weeks prior to her death. She taught Sunday school for many years and was honored to have the young adult Sunday school class named the ‘Jessie Patterson Class’ in her honor. She was also active in the United Methodist Women’s day circle, weekly ‘Prayer Warriors’ group, and visitation teams and opened her home for weekly bible studies. Jessie always visited shut-ins of the church family, and had a special gift for lifting the spirits of others. She brought many individuals and families to God through Smith United Methodist Church and her never ending love for life, her family, and most importantly, her Lord. Jessie was truly a blessing to all that knew her and loved her. Many of Robert Lee and Jessie’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are a vital part of the Church today.
