LINDA POWELL GARNER
(March 8, 1915-May 27, 2000)

A tireless and diligent worker, Elwyn was a mainstay of Smith Church for many years. Son of Archer and Ada Garner, he joined the church at an early age, and gave of his time and talents generously. He helped to build the new church and to remodel the parsonage. Quiet and unassuming, Elwyn was relied on for his sound judgment as he served on the Administrative Board. In recognition of his influence on the programs and missions of the church, a framed tribute to his character and accomplishments was placed in one of the Sunday School rooms. Elwyn was also one of the original members of the United Methodist Men.

Linda was a member of the choir, was Chairman of the Education Committee and served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. She was especially active in the UMW visiting shut-ins, helping with mission projects, and preparing food for the many donation suppers to raise money for the building fund.
